James Wallace “Goodboy” Jennings, 83, moved to his heavenly home on March 15, 2024.
James was born Sept. 10, 1940, to Ada Sue Jordan Jennings and William Wallace Jennings of Laurel, who preceded him in death.
James graduated from Ellisville High School.
James was a public servant all of his adult life. He retired from the City of Laurel Fire Department with 25 years of service. He also retired from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department with 29 years of service. After his retirement, he served as a security guard for Alexander Milne Home of Laurel. James also served as an usher at Life Church for almost 25 years and served in many other areas of the church.
James was a Worshipful Master Mason for several years. He was a member of the Blue Knight Motorcycle Organization of Law Enforcement Officers. James was an avid motorcycle rider all of his life and still owned a Harley Davidson that he rode in the Smoky Mountains last year with his son.
James is survived by his wife of 57 years Geneva Jennings; son Mike Jennings; grandson Matthew Jennings; his brother from another mother Ralph Kenny; his favorite little fur baby Tilly; and a host of cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Mike Mulkey, Mike Johnson, Nick Messersmith, Sam Reynolds, Howard Kitchens and Sheriff Joe Berlin. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the City of Laurel Fire Department and the Jones County Sheriff’s Department.
A graveside service will be Wednesday, March 20, at 11 a.m. at Lake Park Cemetery in Laurel. Pastor Kenny McMinn will officiate.
