Craig Melvin is an American personality and a famously known broadcast journalist and anchor at the NBC News Channel and also at MSNBC. Before turning to a permanent position in January 2019, he announced that he would be having his news anchor position at NBC’s Today, and in October of the same year, he announced that he would be the co-host of Today Third Hour.
Early Life
Craig Melvin was born on 20th May 1979, making him 43 years old as of 2022. He was brought up in Columbia, South Carolina, where he was brought up his whole life by his loving and caring parents named Lawrence and Betty Melvin. He was brought up along with two brothers- one younger whose name is Ryan Melvin, and one is an older half-brother whose name is Rev. Lawrence Meadows, who died from colon cancer at the age of 43 back in 2020.
Back in 1996, Craig was selected as the first African-American personality to be elected as the president of Key Club International. He went to Wofford College, from where he received his Bachelor’s in Arts and after which he started serving as the senior counselor for South Carolina’s Palmetto Boys State program.
Craig Melvin Career
Craig began his hustle for professional life in 1995 when he was first appointed by NBC-affiliated WIS-TV based in Columbia, South Carolina, where he joined the channel as a high school student and worked as an “Our Generation Reporter” from 1995 to 1997. After completing his college education, Craig returned to WIS-TV in July 2001 and started working as a news photographer and producer. Later he was hired as the reporter for the station’s morning news team. During this time, he used to produce “Craig Cam” live segments. While being in the same place, i.e, with WIS-TV he was promoted to the position of news anchor and got the job of weekend morning newscast and weekend evening newscast, and finally headed towards weekday newscast.

Rise to Fame
He was among the most talented reporters who worked for NBC covering the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in August 2016 and the same year he anchored MSNBC Live. In 2017, he hosted his true-crime show called Dateline: Secrets Uncovered which premiered on Oxygen on 21st July the same year. In 2018, Craig started working from Pyeongchang County to report on NBC’s coverage of the Winter Olympics in February. After the coverage, he was promoted to anchor the show called Today in September of the same year. He also hosted the show Today Third Hour in October. In March 2022, Craig announced that he would be leaving the MSNBC shows to completely focus on his reports on another show called Today for the NBC News.
