Gossip Girl and Hollywood star Ed Westwick has dropped a huge hint that he could be set to make a comeback as Chuck Bass in the second season of the hit US series.

The actor rose to fame as bad boy businessman Chuck Bass on the New York based show, which ran from 2007 to 2012 before returning to screens in 2021 with a new cast.

Fans have been loving the reappearance of a number of beloved characters in the reboot, including Blair Waldorf's maid Dorota and her mother Eleanor.

"But I feel like they're kind of off doing their own thing at the moment, it's like when you see an ex-girlfriend with a new lover and they've now moved on.

"I love those guys, I don't know the actors, but Josh (Schwartz), Stephanie (Savage), Josh (Safran), there's a bunch of the same crew, I shared such a significant part of my early adult life with them, there's a lot of love there.

"I was back in New York earlier this year and it was so crazy, I had a whole life there once... We'll see what happens."

Ed also revealed he met up with his friend and former co-star Chace Crawford recently, adding: "I saw Chace the other week at this fan convention and his arms are huge!

"I haven't seen him since pre-pandemic, it was great to catch up with him.

"I love getting to meet the fans and it blows my minds, it's so special that you did something that finished years ago and people still love it, it is so crazy."

Ed is now partnering with social trading app Shares, which focuses on "social trading" as it combines being an investment platform with the features of a social media app, meaning users can talk about their investments with friends and family.

Speaking about his partnership, Ed said: "Shares busts the myths of money investment, which fans will see in our ads, and the community is growing rapidly, there is a real social movement within it which is great to see.

"It is so fun and easy to use and it really opens doors for people to the financial world and does it in a such a cool way with social media.

"There's no reason why investment can't be a fun journey and the app makes it a lot less intimidating as the community aspect makes it supportive, and that's what makes it different to other apps."

UK residents can download the Shares app via the Apple App Store (for iOS devices) and Google Play Store (for Android devices). Learn more about the Shares app at https://shares.io/
