Welcome to Plathville?
For Kim Plath, it sounds at the moment as if she could star on a show titled Welcomed to Rebound-ville.
If certain rumors are to be believed, that is.
The long-time reality star was spotted in Cairo, Georgia on August 13 at a 19080s themed prom of some kind, slow dancing with a guy who was decidedly NOT Barry Plath.
Photos of Kim and this mystery man have been circulating on Facebook and Reddit, and we’ve posted one of them below.
Back in late June, Kim and Barry announced their separation.
The couple has been at the front and center of Welcome to Plathville for four seasons now, as the series chronicles their lives as the parents of nine kids and as people who hold very conservative values.
The spouses have been together for well over two decades.
“After considerable thought and discussion, we have decided to end our marriage,” said Kim and Barry this summer.
“While this was not an easy decision, we know it’s the best choice for both of us.
“We have been through many highs and lows in our 24 years of marriage and as we navigate this new chapter in our lives, we will co-parent our amazing children.”
Over the course of various Season 4 episodes, viewers watched as Kim grew frustrated by Barry’s lack of attention and affection, culminating in a separation that no one really saw coming.
“I can’t help but feel a little betrayed,” Barry said at one point on Season 4, referring to his wife and his relationship.
“One thing I thought wouldn’t ever be shaken was us. Now it’s totally shaken up. It’s just really sad. It’s a tragedy.”
In a confessional, he added:
“I look at her and I see a woman who feels trapped. I have bought flowers and bought presents, but I’m still an optimist hoping that she’ll change.”
Alas, Kim later shared her side of the romance in a conversation with her husband.
“I just feel like I’ve been hurt too much,” she told Barry.
Kim and Barry had 10 kids together — Moriah Plath, Ethan Plath, Hosanna Plath, Micah Plath, Lydia Plath, Isaac Plath, Amber Plath, Cassia Plath and Mercy Plath.
They also had a son, Joshua, who died at 17 months old.
On a subsequent episode of her family’s series, Kim offered up some brutal honesty in front of the camera.
“Once I realized that you were not really loving me for who I am, that’s not a marriage I want to save,” she said to her estranged spouse.
At another point on this same episode, Kim spoke with her daughter, Lydia, who tried to argue that her mom must let her faith lead the way.
But Kim’s response really said it all:
When you marry a man, do you care if he loves you?
